Oxy in the World

Oxy in the World Symposium

February 19 & 20, 2011
Occidental College, Los Angeles, California

Registration information is listed below

Join with Oxy alumni who have made their careers in international affairs to exchange thoughts on how the global context has changed since your years at the College.  On Saturday, 19 February, students of Larry Caldwell (now in his 44th year of teaching) as well as other Oxy grads working in international fields will spend the day sharing insights into the worlds of diplomacy, defense, development, the environment, journalism, intelligence, human rights and international business.  Four panels covering these wide-ranging fields will take place throughout the day in which alumni from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and more recent graduates will share their experiences.

Dr. Caldwell will also be honored at a dinner that evening.  A noted scholar and long-time colleague of his, Professor Robert Legvold from Columbia University, will be the keynote speaker.  There will also be an "open-mike" opportunity for other participants to share their thoughts on the issues and the contributions the College has made to the study and practice of international affairs.

On Sunday morning, 20 February, panelists and other alumni attending will be welcomed back to the College for a light breakfast, and current Oxy students will be invited to join them to discuss international career interests.   This will be a way to help mentor future Oxy alumni in setting their sights on the interesting and rewarding international careers now available to graduates.
