ALOED Film Series

ALOED continues its film series with a screening of Killing Ed, a documentary about US charter schools associated with the Gülen movement—a transnational social and religious—and at times controversial—movement inspired by Sunni Turkish cleric Fethullah Gülen, who has lived in the United States since 1999.

Currently, the Gülen movement funds approximately 120 charter schools in the US, making it the largest charter school network in the country. You can learn more about the history of these schools in this excellent article published in The Atlantic in 2014.

Refreshments will be served prior to the film screening with a discussion of the film following.
